1. Unpacking Your Flowers:

  • Carefully remove the flowers from their packaging, taking care not to damage the delicate petals or stems.

2. Trimming the Stems:

  • Using a clean, sharp pair of scissors or floral shears, cut about an inch off the bottom of each stem at a diagonal angle. This helps the flowers absorb water more efficiently.

3. Choosing the Right Vase:

  • Select a clean vase that is the appropriate size for your bouquet. Make sure it's free from any contaminants or residue.

4. Water Temperature:

  • Fill the vase with lukewarm water. Avoid using very cold or hot water, as extreme temperatures can shock the flowers.

5. Water Level:

  • Keep the water level in the vase relatively low, so the stems are submerged about halfway. This prevents the growth of harmful bacteria in the water.

6. Flower Food:

  • If provided, add the flower food packet to the water. Flower food contains essential nutrients that help extend the life of your arrangement.

7. Regular Water Changes:

  • Change the water in the vase every 2-3 days. This prevents the buildup of bacteria and helps the flowers stay fresh.

8. Removing Dead Leaves and Petals:

  • Remove any dead or wilting leaves and petals as they appear. This keeps the bouquet looking fresh and clean.

9. Placement:

  • Place your arrangement in a cool, well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight, drafts, and heating or cooling vents.

10. Avoid Fruit and Ethylene:

  • Keep your flowers away from ripening fruit, as it releases ethylene gas, which can cause flowers to wilt prematurely.

11. Misting:

  • Some delicate flowers appreciate a light misting with a spray bottle, especially in dry climates.
